Bunkers getting deeper
Pictured above is the 16th green with a bunker that protects much of the green on the right. The hole rewards a tee shot that plays to the left - or the fairway near the creek.

ReplyDeleteSomething about the folds in the bunker on #16 remind me of Merion.
It appears a bit different from the other bunker pics you have posted. Is this just a product of the new sod around the edges, or do the bunkers change aesthetically throughout the course.

ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of hairy bunkers at Merion but some of them are more gash like - like this one. Don labeled the bunkers dug like holes - "gash" bunkers.
So yes the bunkers do look different in different areas - and there are several other gash bunkers so it isn't a foriegner - and it is related to the others.
